After a six-year break I got back here again. The weather was great, and the whole vast event seemed to go as superbly as usual. The aircraft camping area had been extended hugely at the south end of the airfield - so even more trudging than before. I was one of 650,000 visitors, a new record for the event. The US Air Force and Navy were well represented with demonstrations by EA-18Gs, F-35s - As and Cs, E-2Cs, single examples of the U-2 and F-15, plus static KC-46A and C-5M. A privately-owned MiG-29 gave an impressive performance accompanied by other jet warbirds, and did a couple of solo high-speed passes, but it was a disappointingly brief display. A few new aircraft types made their first appearance here this year, including the Kodiak 900, Airbus A330-900, and the freshly revealed Vans RV-15 high-wing kit aircraft, which drew large crowds. I saw my first eVTOL fly, the remarkably simple (in principle) Opener BlackFly. As usual, we visited Fond du Lac airport, which acts as an overflow airport for AirVenture, but unusually, it was on the final Sunday, and it was very quiet. There are over 1,800 photos in this section, of over 900 aircraft, so I've split them into several pages, arranged by aircraft type. And the Miscellaneous page has various things, plus formations such as the massed flypasts and heritage flights. If you want more shots of any particular plane, I may have them, and if you want higher res images, I have got them. Just email me! |
