| Situated on the west side of the port, this is a small but busy heliport, specialising in flightseeing. My visit was on 14th September. |

| An old military airfield north-east of Cape Town, now a GA field with flight training schools. It's been used as a location in several films and videos. We visited on 13th September. It has since had its name changed to Cape Winelands Airport. |

| We flew here from Joburg to visit AFB Makhado. It's pretty quiet here, but the terminal is very pleasant, and we were briefly entertained by a group of mongooses scampering across the tarmac. Our visits, out and back, were on 18th September. |

| A good drive north of Polokwane, this extensive modern airbase was opened in 1987 as AFB Louis Trichardt, but was renamed in 2003. Its main occupants are the Air Force's Saab Gripens, which were off limits to us, and the BAe Hawks, which weren't.
We visited on 18th September and received a warm welcome and a good briefing, along with a flightline visit and a trip to photograph the Mirage. If there was any flying going on, we didn't get to see it, but we saw most of the Hawks flying later at the AAD show. |
