South African Air Force Museum, Air Force Base Swartkop
| Swartkop is South Africa's oldest Air Force base, lies south of Pretoria, and is home to the main collection of the SAAF Museum. Our visit was in the runup to the AAD show at nearby AFB Waterkloof, and the airfield was very busy with related traffic, but the Museum staff were very welcoming to us.
The museum's collection is wide ranging and generally quite good for photography, though the Shackleton is too well tucked away. There's a very pleasant cafe to complete the experience. Our visit was on the 19th September. |
