NC39165 (N39165) as 'PH-AJU' |
|
You can tell by the number of photos here that this was my favourite aircraft of the show. It was a delight to visit the cabin and cockpit, and to see her flying.
The original PH-AJU, named Uiver, was entered in the MacRobertson Trophy air race from England to Australia in 1934 by KLM. It came second to the De Havilland DH88 Comet racer "Grosvenor House".
This aircraft spent its whole life, originally as a Navy R2D-1, based in the USA until it came to the Dutch Aviodrome in 1999.
