Oakland Aviation Museum, North Field, Oakland International Airport

This nice museum has many interesting displays and several very rare and interesting aircraft. It started in 1981 as the Western Aerospace Museum, and acquired its new name in 2007. We visited on the 9th May.

Short S-45 Solent 3 G-AKNP Strange BOAC marks. City of Cardiff. Ex RAF Seaford 1 NJ203, with BOAC for 18 months 1949-51, before becoming VH-TOB. Has a link with Oakland as it was here from 1955 as N9946F with South Pacific Airlines before being bought by Howard Hughes.
