| In an attempt to get to Chicago on 20th July, I boarded BA 777-200 G-VIIB on a remote stand. After an hour's delay due to an ongoing battery replacement, we taxied around the airport and returned to Terminal 5. After a long wait the pilot announced that the flight was cancelled due to a brake fault. After another wait for UK Border Control approval, we left the plane, over four hours after we should have taken off. I took these photos during the taxi tour, some of them during a dramatic storm. Because of the severe complications caused by all this, a lack of alternative direct flights, and the consequences for our group, I abandoned my attempt, and missed Oshkosh this year. A tour of Heathrow taxiways on a stormy Sunday is a poor substitute. |
