Definitely one of the biggest and best aviation museums in the world, highest on my wish list, and at last I've made it.
A full day here is just about enough if you keep moving around the huge, spacious site and the impressive hangars.
But the displays and information boards are excellent, and well worth slowing down for - and there's a good cafe.
Our visit was on the 6th November, and the range and rarity of the aircraft here was enhanced for me as the first Boeing 777 had very recently flown in, via the adjacent Davis Monthan AFB, and was being prepared for display. Just eight days later, General Electric's 747-100 engine testbed arrived. Ah well... There are over 700 photos here, of about 280 aircraft (yes, the place is huge), so I've divided them into three pages, arranged in alphabetical order by aircraft type. |
